Chi-uh Neylon is a Melbourne based visual and installation artist specialising in immersive, multi-sensory works inspired by nature and the human experience. With a strong focus on sustainable art making practices, Chi-uh interweaves sound and lighting with a mixed medium of recycled/reusable materials to bring her works to life. Drawing upon her background in Social Work, Community Arts Development and theatre production, Chi-uh’s multi-disciplinary approach to large scale installations invites participants to engage, reflect and challenge societal norms.
As co-founder of ‘Move!’ (2015-2018), Chi-uh’s work, supporting the regeneration of the creative arts in Cambodia, supported local practicing artists to cultivate their work and facilitate creative art programs across multiple schools. Locally Chi-uh has spent the last two years curating for Ruckus Melbourne (2018-20) a grass roots bi-monthly event which supports local and emerging artists to present new and engaging works in a wide range of formats. Chi-uh’s theatre production work has seen her work with Miss Friby (2018-19), Woodford Folk Festival (2019) Rainbow Serpent Festival (2017-19), The Town Festival (2018-19) and Island Vibes Festival (2018) which she draws on within her practice.
