I’m Tina, a British artist, 50 years old and mum of two wonderful kids, one of whom is autistic. I’m a self-taught artist. Painting is perfect for me as it’s something I can do from home (because of my son).
I used to make art for children, illustrations, door plaques etc, but wanted to see if I could paint. So about 3 years ago I started to teach myself and now can’t believe I lived without it for so long.
I love all art, from the great masters to contemporary and abstract art. Painting is now my life I and particularly love using palette knives for the process.
I’m drawn to the random, and unfinished images that you can create with a palette knife. Gives it that ‘raw’ edge which I find so appealing.
I also love to paint in unnatural skin tones, with lots of mark-making and randomness. Conventional beauty doesn’t interest me as much as imperfections and faults do – for me they are far more satisfying to look at.
